Developer Insomniac Games and game publisher Electronic Arts have recently released a new trailer of their upcoming sci-fi shooter FUSE. The game is set for release on May 28 in North America and May 31 in Europe for Xbox 360 and Playstation 3.

In FUSE a volatile alien energy source known as “Fuse” with the potential to ignite an international arms race falls into the hands of a group called the Raven Corporation. The CIA calls in the elite mercenary band called Overstrike 9 to solve the problem. Players will be taking on the role of Overstrike 9 to retrieve this lethal energy source.

In this third-person shooter gamers can team up with up to three friends in team-based co-op play taking down the rogue paramilitary corporation behind the energy theft. Players are challenged to effectively work together using teamwork to take down enemies, coordinate devastating attacks, and provide cover for one another with fringe-tech weapons and other gadgets.

Gamers are able to play as the Overstrike 9 agents Dalton (squad leader and former Raven mercenary ), Izzy (a hacker and intelligence broker) , Jacob (a former police detective), and Naya (the stealth expert) each armed with their own unique piece of Xenotech weaponry.

The so called LEAP feature lets players shift instantly between squad members during combat, allowing gamers to take advantage of each others special arsenal and weaponry.

Insomniac Games, the developer behind FUSE, was also behind the original Spyro The Dragon series, Ratchet & Clank, and the Resistance series. In recent times the game developer has put their focus into social gaming with 2012’s Outernauts. FUSE will be the developer’s first multi-platform title, coming to PS3 and Xbox 360.

The FUSE demo can be found on Xbox Live and PlayStation Network. For more information on FUSE have a look at the official FUSE website.
