SimCity Social Going Offline In June
The Facebook game SimCity Social is put offline on the 14th of June, not even a year after its initial launch. Developer Playfish has announced the shut down of the mobile game on its forum. Also Sims Social and Pet Society are put offline.
As reason for the closure of the social games Playfish tells that it is focussing its attention towards other game titels. The social games wouldn’t fit in Playfish’s future strategy.
Players of the three games are able to spend their in-game credits until the 14th of June. After that date the credits will be lost with the shut down of the game. Playfish said that the coming days new announcements will be made about the shut down of the games.
SimCity Social launched on the 25th of June last year and is, just as Sims Social and Pet Society, a free-to-play game on Facebook. Gamers are able to speed up their progress by paying for certain in-game improvements.
