Best games for 2013


With 2012 almost coming to an end I would like to make use of the occasion and look forward to what great games are coming at us in 2013. The year 2012 was a great year for games with games as Assassin’s Creed 3, Halo 4 and Far Cry 3 to name a few. But 2013 seems to be able to be an interesting gaming year as well, perhaps an even greater one.

I made a list for the 10 best games for 2013, the games I am looking forward to most.

10. SimCity 2013

Release date: March 5, 2013

In March, 2013 Electronic Arts will be coming with its next installment to the SimCity franchise, EA’s epic city management simulation game. Play a single city or up to 16 cities at once each with different specializations. Multiplayer is also a new feature first for the series, decisions impact both your city and your region and creates news ways to play by collaborating or competing to earn achievements. With the new GlassBox engine everything you will see in the game is simulated, from city-wide systems all the way down to the individual Sims in your city.

SimCity 2013 will be available for PC.

9. Bioshock: Infinite

Release date: March 26, 2012

Bioshock: Infinite will be the third leap into the world of Bioshock. The stylish role playing game set in an alternate 1912 will lead you up into a city floating in the sky.

The player takes the role of former Pinkerton agent Booker De Witt. He is sent to the floating air-city of Columbia to find a young woman, Elizabeth, who has been held captive there for the last twelve years. Though Booker rescues Elizabeth, the two are pursued by the city’s warring factions; the nativist and elite Founders that strive to keep the city for pure Americans, and the Vox Populi, a rebel grouping representing the common people. Booker finds Elizabeth to be central to this conflict, and that she also holds strange powers to manipulate rifts in the time-space continuum that ravage Columbia.

The game will be releasing on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360.

8. Dead Space 3

Release date: February 8, 2013

Dead Space 3 is a third-person action/horror game from Visceral Games and EA. It’s the third game in the Dead Space series.

The game is set in outer space with lead protagonist Isaac Clarke, who was sent as an engineer to the USG Ishimura space station. Things go wrong and alien beasts called Necromorphs start killing everyone and converting them.

Dead Space 3 will be coming to PC, Xbox 360 and PS3.

7. God of War: Ascension

God of War is a third person action-adventure game created by Santa Monica Studio and published by Sony Computer Entertainment. God of War: Ascension is based on Greek mythology, and is set in a fantasy version of Ancient Greece. The player controls the warrior Kratos, a Spartan in the service of the Olympian Gods. Kratos is tasked by the goddess Athena with killing Ares, the God of War, who is responsible for Kratos’ accidental murder of his family. As Ares ravages Athens, Kratos embarks on a quest to find the one object capable of stopping the god: the legendary Pandora’s Box. Ultimately successful, Kratos replaces Ares as the new God of War. Chronologically, God of War is the third chapter in the series, which focuses on vengeance as its central theme.

God of War: Ascension will be available on PS2 and PS3.

6. Gears of War: Judgment

Gears of War: Judgment is a third-person shooter that Epic Games and People Can Fly are co-developing as the fourth title within the Gears of War franchise. Early in the Locust War, Kilo Squad is accused of treason by Col.Ezra Loomis after Lt.Damon Baird leads Pvt.Augustus Cole, Sofia Hendrik, and Garron Paduk in a battle against the Locust in Halvo Bay, during which they steal experimental Coalition of Ordered Governments technology.

Gears of War: Judgment will be solely available on Xbox 360.

5. Call of Juarez: Gunslinger


Release date: 2013

Call of Juarez: Gunslinger is a first-person shooter game series from the Polish developer Techland. The game is seen as a homage to the American wild west in which the game is set.

The game will be available on PC, Xbox 360 and PS3.

4. Prey 2

Prey 2 is a sci-fi first-person shooter with role playing elements. The game is set in an free open world and being developed by Human Head Studios and published by Bethesda Softworks

Prey 2 will be available on PC, Xbox 360 and PS3.

3. Star Trek: The Game

Release date: April 23, 2013

Star Trek: The Game will be a third-person action-adventure and form a bridge between Star Trek: the movie which was released in 2009 and the upcoming Star Trek movie in 2013. It will build on the story brought forward in 2009 and thus building up to the movie release of the 2013 Star Trek production.

The game will be available on PC, Xbox 360 and PS3.

2. Crysis 3


Crysis 3 will be the third sci-fi shooter in Crytek’s Crysis series. The future set game will let the player play with an enhanced nano-suite to fight off an alien threat.

The third game sees players take on the role of Prophet as he returns to New York, only to discover the city’s been encased in a giant Nanodome created by the corrupt Cell Corporation. The New York City Liberty Dome is a veritable urban rainforest teeming with overgrown trees, dense swamplands and raging rivers. Within the Liberty Dome, seven distinct and treacherous environments become known as the Seven Wonders. Set in 2047 (24 years after Crysis 2), Prophet is said to be on a “revenge mission” after uncovering the truth behind Cell’s motives for building the quarantined Nanodomes.

Crysis 3 will be available for PC, Xbox 360 and PS3.

1. Grand Theft Auto V

Release date: 2013

Grand Theft Auto V (also known as GTA V) is an upcoming open world action-adventure game being developed by Rockstar North. GTA V’s world is bigger than the worlds of Red Dead Redemption, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas and Grand Theft Auto IV combined. Areas in the game world include beach fronts, mountains, the wilderness, a “Salton Sea” region, a military base and the suburbs. The ocean floor is fully detailed and can be explored.

GTA V will be available for Xbox 360 and PS3.
